pump troubleshooting
| FAULT | POSSIBLE CAUSE | REMEDY |
| Pump does not start or stops suddenly | Mains lead not plugged in correctly | Ensure lead is attached firmly at each point |
| Defective fuse. | Change fuse. | |
| Elite pump – piston does not move/stops moving | Piston has come free from its mountings or piston has moved and is touching the sides. | Check that piston is properly fitted at the 2 location points, if not push down firmly. |
| Pump generates little or no suction | Milk Collection Set not connected correctly | Reconnect Milk Collection Set – firm push fit. |
| Connector un-plugged. | Put stopper in connector if single pumping | |
| Check snap-on-lid. | Re-fit snap-on-lid. | |
| Vacuum control knob wrongly set. | Set vacuum control knob according to instructions. | |
| White valve may be torn. | Replace valve. | |
| Pump runs, diaphragm not moving | Fault valve | Remove bottle, place hand over breastshield to make a seal with the pump running at full vacuum. Check that the white valve opens and closes with each stroke. |
| Valve remains open – replace it | ||
| Leak of milk around Breastshield | Flexishield not correctly fitted | Check Flexishield is correctly fitted with sealing ridge well into narrow part of shell. |
| SMB breast pump only: Milk blowback | Check whether rubber valve sticking | Check that the rubber valve is opening and closing, if not take off and clean as per instructions |
